It has been confirmed that a new firmware upgrade for printers using HP 934/935 cartridges was launched in March 2016 in many countries – Compatible cartridges previously purchased may now be rejected by the new firmware.
Our current compatible cartridges have now been updated and are now working as expected. If you have cartridges that are displaying a message such as 'Cartridges Missing or Damaged' it is likely that your printer has received the new firmware.
Your printer may have received the update through the following methods:
- Automatic firmware upgrade – The printer may be upgraded automatically even without connecting to internet.
- Manual firmware upgrade – The printer may pop out a dialog box asking if the end-user accepts upgrade, once the end-user confirms yes, the printer will be upgraded.
- Newly produced printers may be manufactured with the latest firmware version already active.
- Some printers may have been set with a clocked upgrade function, i.e. they will be upgraded to the latest firmware version at a fixed time even without connecting to internet.
The following printers may be affected:
- HP Officejet Pro 6230
- HP Officejet Pro 6820
- HP Officejet Pro 6830
